MYTHOS Keychain Charms: Sterling Silver or Silver-Plated?

The MYTHOS collection offers the same sculptural designs in two materially different editions: 925 sterling silver at $259 USD and silver-plated copper–nickel alloy at $159 USD. The best choice depends on how much the metal through the body matters to you, how you plan to carry the charm and how you feel about wear.
What the two names mean
925 sterling silver is an alloy containing 92.5% silver. In the sterling edition, that alloy forms the pendant body. It is not a thin silver surface over a base-metal core. The collection’s silver-plated edition has a copper–nickel alloy core, sometimes described as white copper, with silver on the surface.
“White copper” should not be confused with sterling silver. Nor does a silver-coloured appearance tell you what is inside an object. The material selection on each MYTHOS product page names the construction explicitly.

Think about repeated key contact
Keys move against one another in a pocket or bag. Either material can pick up scratches and signs of use. Sterling silver can tarnish; plating can wear away and expose the underlying alloy. Neither edition should be described as scratchproof or maintenance-free.
The aged design uses dark recesses and worn-looking planes intentionally. New wear from use is a separate process. If you like the idea of silver throughout the object as the surface changes, choose sterling. If the design is your priority at the lower price, the plated edition offers that route with a different long-term surface behaviour.
Do not use the 30 g target for both editions
The 30 g target applies to the sterling charm, including the integral top eye but excluding the separate ring, keys and other accessories. Using another metal in the same geometry does not automatically produce the same weight. The plated edition’s finished weight remains to be confirmed on a sample.
The current sizes also come from a design model. For example, the Zeus keychain charm is estimated at 41.7 × 25.3 × 8.4 mm overall. The product page identifies these as estimates so you can judge likely scale without mistaking them for measured production specifications.
Care should preserve the finish
After use, wipe the charm gently with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners and aggressive polishing, particularly in the darkened relief and on plated surfaces. Keep chemicals and prolonged moisture away from the piece, and store it dry when it is not being carried.
The plated core contains nickel. The collection does not make a nickel-free or hypoallergenic claim. If you need a particular alloy composition confirmed, ask for that information before choosing a material.

925 sterling silver is the primary edition because material weight and substance are central to the project. The plated version keeps the design accessible at $159.
