What to Engrave on a MYTHOS Keychain Charm
IGNIS ARGENTUM STUDIO
The front of a MYTHOS charm carries the character; the back can carry the reason it belongs to you. The most effective engraving is often short: a date, a pair of initials or a few words whose meaning does not need to be explained to everyone else.
A short rear engraving is included in both the 925 sterling silver and silver-plated editions. Leaving the engraving field empty gives you an unengraved back. The inscription is arranged to fit the available panel; a small pendant is not the place for a long speech.

Start with a date
Dates work well when the gift marks something specific: a birthday, an anniversary, a graduation or the beginning of a new chapter. Choose a format the recipient will immediately understand. Spelling out the month avoids the difference between US and European numeric date order.
Examples such as “12 OCT 1986” or “JUN 2026” are easy to read and have a clear structure. These are sample inscriptions, not historical dates associated with a deity. You can also use a year alone if the design calls for a quieter mark.
Use initials for something private
Two sets of initials can refer to a partnership, a parent and child or a friendship. “J + A” leaves space around the inscription and does not require a stranger to understand it. Initials can also keep a gift personal without stating an emotion in words the recipient would never use.
Think about the rear panel as a small composition. White space helps the letters remain distinct against the aged surrounding surface. Avoid adding several messages simply because you have more to say.
Let the character suggest a short phrase
| Design | Suggested phrase | Personal direction |
|---|---|---|
| Zeus keychain charm | KEEP YOUR WORD | Resolve & responsibility |
| Poseidon keychain charm | HOLD YOUR COURSE | Independence & composure |
| Hades keychain charm | HOLD THE LINE | Boundaries & quiet resolve |
| Heracles keychain charm | ONE MORE STEP | Perseverance & effort |
| Atlas keychain charm | CARRY WITH CARE | Endurance & responsibility |
| Hermes keychain charm | FIND A WAY | Resourcefulness & movement |
| Hephaestus keychain charm | BUILT WITH CARE | Craft & persistence |
| Helios keychain charm | RISE AGAIN | Renewal & consistency |
These phrases are contemporary studio suggestions. They are not presented as quotations from Homer, inscriptions found on antiquities or sayings spoken by the characters. If you prefer a quotation, keep it short and check both the wording and the attribution.
Check it as if it were already engraved
Read the inscription once for meaning and once for spelling. Check every letter, the order of initials and the date. Confirm whether you want capitals or mixed case. Do not depend on an assumption that a spelling will be corrected automatically.
The product form accepts a short inscription and displays the current character limit. Spaces count. The layout must still suit the individual rear panel, so a message may need a different arrangement even when it is within the text limit.
A useful gift test
Ask yourself whether the recipient would choose these words. A practical person may prefer a date to a motivational phrase. A private person may prefer initials to a public declaration. The purpose of the engraving is to make the object theirs, rather than to make the giver’s explanation longer.
For a gift intended to arrive on a particular date, check the confirmed production and delivery information before placing the order. A meaningful inscription will not make an unconfirmed delivery promise more reliable.
Where to see the engraving area
Every MYTHOS product page includes a back view so you can see the rear texture and the intended inscription panel. Check it alongside the front and side views before choosing. The Hades keychain charm and Zeus keychain charm show how different front shapes can lead to different rear layouts.
